Maggie S. Chen is a science journalist and MD-PhD candidate at Stanford University. Previously, she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College with a degree in human developmental and regenerative biology, then completed a MRes with Distinction in Bioengineering at Imperial College London through the British Marshall Scholarship. Her PhD work focuses on understanding the genetic regulation underlying heart disease.

As a science journalist, Maggie broadly covers health, biology, bioengineering, and biotechnology. She also appreciates a good funky animal story. She was a 2022 AAAS Mass Media Fellow and contributing writer for WIRED. Her writing has been supported by awards/grants from the National Association of Science Writers, Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, AAAS, etc.
